About The Position

Avalara is seeking a Principal Product Manager to own and drive the strategy, roadmap, and success of our Oracle connector portfolio, including Oracle ERP Cloud, Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), Oracle JD Edwards (JDE), and Oracle PeopleSoft integrations. This role is critical in ensuring Avalara remains the preferred tax compliance partner across Oracle's enterprise ecosystem, while also advancing our product strategy through AI-powered innovation. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on SME who can balance customer needs, Avalara product priorities, Oracle partner requirements, and the technical realities of integration at enterprise scale.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience in SaaS or ERP integrations.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle ERP Cloud, Oracle EBS, JDE, or PeopleSoft
  • Demonstrated success managing integration products or connectors at enterprise scale.
  • Experience writing clear requirements, defining KPIs, and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to influence both Avalara executives and Oracle partner stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep expertise in Oracle ERP Cloud, EBS, JDE, and PeopleSoft — including architecture, APIs, and integration points.
  • Maintain mastery of Avalara products that integrate with Oracle (AvaTax, Returns, Exemption Certificate Management, Cross-Border, e-Invoicing).
  • Stay ahead of Oracle's roadmap and ecosystem changes, ensuring Avalara's connectors evolve in step.
  • Understand the competitive landscape for tax automation in Oracle environments and articulate Avalara's differentiators.
  • Define and drive how AI enhances Avalara's Oracle connectors.
  • Lead initiatives that apply AI to: Guided setup & configuration (LLM-driven assistants for easier onboarding), Error detection & resolution (AI-powered diagnostics and predictive alerts), Data insights (AI-driven anomaly detection, compliance risk insights, explainable tax decisions), Documentation & support (dynamic documentation, AI-assisted customer support flows).
  • Partner with Avalara's AI/ML teams to continuously evaluate new AI capabilities while ensuring compliance with Avalara's data governance and ethical standards.
  • Own the vision, roadmap, and POR (Plan of Record) for the Oracle connector portfolio.
  • Write detailed product requirements and acceptance criteria for engineering teams.
  • Partner with TPMs and engineers to ensure smooth execution and on-time delivery.
  • Track milestones, manage risks, and escalate blockers with remediation plans.
  • Provide clear requirements handoff to Avalara's Integration Team, while remaining engaged to validate customer and partner needs are met.
  • Work across Avalara teams — engineering, core platform PMs, content teams, support, professional services, technical writers, and enablement.
  • Act as the Oracle integration advocate inside Avalara, ensuring Oracle platform priorities are represented in cross-connector initiatives.
  • Partner with Avalara's Strategic Partner Managers to align Avalara's roadmap with Oracle's product direction.
  • Serve as senior escalation point for Oracle connector customer issues.
  • Lead cross-functional war rooms for escalations, ensuring rapid response and transparent communication.
  • Capture post-mortem learnings and feed improvements back into roadmap planning.
  • Define, track, and report KPIs such as: Connector attach rate and adoption in Oracle accounts, Implementation time-to-value, Customer satisfaction (CSAT, NPS) and support case reduction, Uptime, API performance, and product reliability, Revenue contribution from Oracle channel partnerships.
  • Ensure SteerCo and Orange Dash reporting is accurate and up to date.
  • Provide regular, executive-ready updates to Avalara leadership and Oracle partner teams.
  • Represent Avalara at Oracle trade shows, advisory forums, and partner events.
