About The Position

Lambda, a leader in AI cloud infrastructure, is seeking a Principal Product Manager for Technology Partnerships, specifically focusing on NVIDIA. This role involves managing the product aspects of Lambda's relationship with NVIDIA, which includes being a partner, investor, and supplier. The Product Manager will stay informed about NVIDIA's hardware and software roadmap, decide which technologies Lambda should adopt or pass on, and manage joint engineering programs from a product perspective. The role requires strong insight, influence, and execution skills, with a need to learn new domains quickly and reason rigorously from evidence. Deep hardware platform or infrastructure software experience at a cloud provider, silicon vendor, or systems company is highly desired. The position requires presence in the Bellevue or San Francisco office four days per week.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including time at a cloud provider, systems company, or silicon vendor.
  • Experience owning a strategic technology partnership where two companies built things together.
  • Ability to analyze silicon and systems roadmaps and determine their implications for a cloud business, including adoption decisions.
  • Sufficient understanding of GPU platforms to engage in technical discussions with designers.
  • Experience making adoption decisions with significant capital and engineering costs, and ability to discuss past decisions, including mistakes.
  • Experience managing a program where external and internal engineers collaborated to deliver a shared outcome.
  • Ability to decline requests from powerful counterparts while maintaining the relationship.
  • Skill in defining iterative plans to guide an organization from its current state to a desired outcome.
  • Clear communication and writing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GPU or accelerator platforms, including the process of qualifying new generations.
  • Experience evaluating pre-release technology from silicon or systems vendors for potential adoption.
  • Experience considering data center power, cooling, or density as product inputs.
  • Experience evaluating infrastructure software for adoption, including build, buy, or partner decisions.
  • Experience managing a co-development program with an external partner.
  • Prior experience at a GPU cloud, hyperscaler, or AI infrastructure company.

Responsibilities

  • Track NVIDIA's hardware and software roadmap to enable Lambda to plan proactively.
  • Decide which of NVIDIA's new hardware and software Lambda should productize for On-Demand GPU Instances, 1-Click Clusters, and private cloud deployments, and which to pass on, documenting the reasoning.
  • Take adopted NVIDIA technologies through the entire product lifecycle, including packaging, pricing, and launch criteria.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for both Lambda and NVIDIA, ensuring requests are routed to the correct product and engineering owners.
  • Own the product side of joint engineering programs between Lambda and NVIDIA, defining scope and completion criteria.
  • Collaborate with Lambda's hardware product managers to ensure platform decisions are informed by the latest NVIDIA GPU generation information.
  • Translate relationship outcomes into requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for Lambda's engineering teams.
  • Clearly communicate decisions to partners, including what Lambda will not do and why, to maintain a positive relationship.
  • Define success metrics for adoption decisions and evaluate their outcomes.
  • Partner with product managers responsible for compute, storage, networking, orchestration, and security to integrate adopted technologies.
