About The Position

The Principal Product Management Engineer will lead the integration of Splunk Enterprise Security with Cisco Data Fabric, owning the technical strategy and product outcomes. The role focuses on enabling distributed, federated data tiering for SOC use cases, so security teams can detect, investigate, and respond across data wherever it resides without centralizing and ingesting all of it. It also aims to lower total cost of ownership by simplifying the data pipeline and helping customers realize value from core security use cases faster and at lower cost. The position defines the product and technical vision, designs data flow, ingestion, and access patterns, and develops intelligent capabilities for tiering, routing, filtering, and reducing data while maintaining security efficacy. It streamlines onboarding, data-source configuration, normalization, and routing; leads roadmaps and technical coordination across Splunk, Cisco Data Fabric, and partner engineering teams; and represents customer and market needs to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 12 or more years of related experience, or a master's degree or PhD with 8 or more years of related experience.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on cybersecurity experience, including security operations.
  • Product management or business line ownership experience in enterprise software or security.
  • Experience designing and maintaining large-scale distributed data systems or SIEM architectures.
  • Some experience with Splunk Enterprise Security and security operations data lifecycles.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of SOC workflows, including triage, investigation, hunting, and response, and SOC personas from Tier 1 analysts and detection engineers to SOC managers and CISOs.
  • Current awareness of evolving attacker tradecraft, including identity-based, cloud, and ransomware attacks, and how it affects SOC data retention and search needs.
  • Understanding of how detections are built, tuned, and maintained, and how data filtering or tiering affects detection efficacy.
  • Experience with security data pipelines, including collection, normalization, routing, and retention; cloud-native streaming such as Kafka and Kinesis; and data models such as CIM and OCSF.
  • Understanding of federated search and storage economics, with a track record of reducing customer cost or complexity on a data-intensive platform.
  • Familiarity with Cisco networking and security data architectures, including Cisco Data Fabric.
  • Regular direct engagement with SOC practitioners and security leaders, with empathy for analysts' work.
  • Executive presence; ability to lead across complex organizations and third-party partners; and ability to explain technical and economic tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the product and technical vision for the Splunk Enterprise Security and Cisco Data Fabric integration, tied to outcomes such as lower ingest and storage cost, faster time to value, and sustained detection efficacy.
  • Design and deliver data flow, ingestion, and access patterns for detection, investigation, threat hunting, and response across tiered and federated data.
  • Develop capabilities to tier, route, filter, and reduce data based on security value while preserving detection efficacy.
  • Simplify onboarding, data-source configuration, normalization, and routing for core security use cases to improve Day 1 value.
  • Lead joint roadmaps, technical design reviews, and sprint alignment across Splunk, Cisco Data Fabric, and partner engineering teams.
  • Keep detection and response outcomes central to product decisions and translate customer and analyst requirements into prioritized product capabilities.
  • Represent the product to customers, field teams, partners, and senior leadership, and bring customer and market insight into the roadmap.
