GitwitBentonville, AR

About The Position

Gitwit is seeking a Principal Product Designer to lead the product experience for new AI companies and establish design quality standards for the studio. This role involves defining and designing products from inception to a high level of finish, suitable for real users. The ideal candidate possesses strong product judgment and a deep understanding of the design craft. Gitwit is an AI-first venture studio focused on identifying, validating, and building new companies. With plans to launch over 15 ventures in four years, this position offers continuous opportunities to shape the initial versions of new companies. The role requires leading product experience from concept through prototyping, launch, user feedback, and iteration, working closely with discovery, product strategy, engineering, brand, and venture leadership. The work is hands-on, involving wireframing, shaping feature plans, prototyping with AI, user research, and close collaboration with engineers. The designer will stay involved post-launch to analyze user behavior and feedback, translating insights into improved product versions before handing off to a founding team and moving to the next challenge. The role emphasizes rethinking workflows for AI-native products, focusing on user interaction, AI capabilities, uncertainty, trust, and error handling to create simple, obvious, and trustworthy experiences.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product design, hands-on and deep in the craft.
  • Experience taking products from zero to one.
  • A portfolio of work you can share that showcases your experience.
  • Strong product judgment.
  • Ability to set and hold the visual and interaction quality standard.
  • Ability to resolve complex states, edge cases, and interaction details.
  • Experience designing AI workflows considering uncertainty, human review, and fallback paths.
  • Ability to generate design directions, weigh tradeoffs, and clearly explain decisions.
  • Proficiency in prototyping to facilitate team learning.
  • Skill in translating user insights into product hypotheses and design decisions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (product strategists, researchers, engineers, designers, venture leaders).
  • Discipline and meticulousness in design implementation.
  • Curiosity about how AI is reshaping product design.
  • Thinking beyond traditional forms and dashboards towards AI-driven workflows.
  • Ability to synthesize research and usage signals into product direction.
  • Clear cross-functional communication skills.
  • Comfort with moving quickly with incomplete information and high trust.
  • Care about how the company shows up across various touchpoints (decks, websites, prototypes).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a venture studio environment.
  • Experience with AI-native interaction design.
  • Experience with research-to-product synthesis.
  • Experience with brand design (though not the primary focus).

Responsibilities

  • Set and hold the visual and interaction quality standard for the studio's products.
  • Lead zero-to-one product design for new AI products, from blank canvas through first launch and iteration.
  • Resolve the hard parts: the states, edge cases, and interaction details that make a product feel finished.
  • Design AI workflows where the product may not behave the same way twice, changing outputs, wrong or uncertain answers, human review, approval moments, fallback paths, and clear next steps.
  • Generate multiple design directions, weigh tradeoffs, make the call, and explain the reasoning clearly.
  • Prototype quickly to help the team learn what is real before overbuilding.
  • Translate user observation, research, and usage signals into product hypotheses, experiments, and design decisions.
  • Work tightly with product strategists, researchers, engineers, designers, and venture leaders to turn a promising idea into something real enough to test.
  • Bring discipline and meticulousness to how design gets built across the studio, so each product does not have to reinvent the basics from scratch.
  • Help the studio get smarter with each AI product by capturing what we learn about review, correction, approval, uncertainty, failure states, and user trust, and sharing it so each new venture starts sharper than the last.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Meaningful equity in every venture the studio builds
  • 8 weeks of PTO
  • Excellent health, vision, and dental insurance, with 99% of employee premiums paid
