About The Position

Jira is the beating heart of Atlassian’s System of Work, evolving from a system that helps teams manage work into an intelligent partner for how modern work gets done. The Jira Design team’s remit is to continuously evolve Jira into the modern choice for work management and to unleash the power of every team. We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to be a key leader within the Jira Design team. In this role, you will report into a Senior Design Manager, and join an organization consisting of multiple teams in Australia and North America. As a high level individual contributor, you'll lead and execute visionary work across Jira, Atlassian’s flagship product within the Teamwork Collection app suite.

  • Experience conducting and applying customer research, including design thinking, prototyping and conceptual modelling, to shape product strategy and direction
  • A demonstrated ability to balance customer needs with business goals, market viability and technical feasibility, while making high-quality decisions in conditions of ambiguity
  • Facilitation and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to integrate the work of multiple teams, align diverse perspectives and facilitate discussions that lead to company-wide outcomes
  • The ability to define programs and interconnected projects, establish measures of success, test assumptions and outcomes, and incorporate feedback to improve direction over time
  • Strong executive-level stakeholder engagement, including change management, risk mitigation and the ability to negotiate complex trade-offs
  • Experience improving processes, methodologies and ways of working to increase product quality, team velocity, customer value and adoption of new capabilities
