About The Position

Apollo.io is hiring a Principal Product Builder to own Apollo Data, the data layer that provides B2B company, contact, and signal data for customers’ go-to-market (GTM) stacks. The role sets the vision, strategy, roadmap, and delivery for the core data catalog and its use across Apollo products, including agent, API, and workflow surfaces. It spans data quality and telemetry, sourcing and integrating data, vendor relationships, data accuracy measurement, and the data structure and taxonomy that shape the customer experience. The position works closely with Data Engineering, Research, Data Science, Engineering, Design, Partnerships, GTM, Support, Enablement, and Customer Success. It owns the metrics and learning loops used to assess catalog breadth, depth, accuracy, and freshness; guides build-versus-buy-versus-partner decisions; and helps make complex data pipelines understandable and trustworthy to customers. The role also includes rapid prototyping with AI-native tools, customer-facing data evaluations, and clear product strategy and launch documentation.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of product management experience, including ownership of complex data-centric product areas from strategy through launch.
  • Ability to use AI-native tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, Figma AI, or similar to prototype, validate, and accelerate execution, with examples of things built or shipped.
  • Principal-level ownership of a meaningful product area with company-level visibility.
  • Strong product judgment, including the ability to identify high-leverage problems, make tradeoffs, and protect focus.
  • Ability to navigate multiple data sources and aggregation processes that centralize data into a high-availability, performant data catalog, and to use data-backed telemetry in product decisions.
  • Working understanding of data privacy, GDPR, CCPA, consent, and licensing constraints, and ability to partner with Legal and Privacy.
  • High agency and ability to create clarity and move work forward in ambiguous environments.
  • Technical fluency across architecture, reliability, observability, APIs, data models, instrumentation, and edge cases.
  • Customer empathy for how data gaps, stale records, and inaccuracies affect sales, marketing, RevOps, administrators, and end users.
  • Execution excellence: ability to define, ship, measure, and iterate effectively.
  • Strong influence and communication skills, including the ability to align teams, build trust, and make complex systems understandable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with B2B data products, data marketplaces, enrichment, identity resolution, or data-as-a-service businesses.
  • Familiarity with entity resolution, record matching, data freshness and decay, confidence scoring, and high-scale data collection and verification.
  • Experience sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating third-party data vendor relationships, including waterfall or multi-vendor architectures.
  • Experience building products for sales, marketing, RevOps, customer success, or GTM operators.
  • Experience using analytics, experimentation, observability, or support data to improve data quality and customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and delivery for Apollo’s core data catalog.
  • Prioritize data initiatives with Data Engineering, Research, and Design, aligning the roadmap with company OKRs.
  • Define and maintain central data telemetry, metrics, and dashboards for catalog breadth, depth, accuracy, and freshness, in partnership with Data Science.
  • Lead the always-on data sourcing operation, including identifying sources through telemetry, evaluating them, and integrating them.
  • Bridge R&D and Partnerships on vendor data sourcing, evaluation, and ongoing relationships.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on approaches to improve the core data catalog, bringing product judgment and GTM visibility to data innovations.
  • Support key customer data initiatives and evaluations, including direct customer interaction with sales and field teams.
  • Align stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Design, GTM, Support, and Enablement.
  • Work with customers, GTM teams, Support, and internal users to identify data gaps and accuracy or usability issues.
  • Set product strategy for continuously improving the native data catalog with new data sources.
  • Set product strategy for how data appears across Apollo products and customer systems, including enrichment, search and filters, scoring, taxonomy, and data structure.
  • Prototype quickly with AI-native tools to validate ideas before scaling investment.
  • Turn complex data pipelines into customer experiences that explain coverage, accuracy, freshness, confidence scoring, enrichment waterfalls, and data provenance.
  • Lead build-versus-buy-versus-partner decisions for data sources, evaluate vendors on coverage, accuracy, freshness, cost, and compliance, and own the business case.
  • Partner with Engineering on architecture, reliability, observability, APIs, data models, and edge cases while focusing on customer and business outcomes.
  • Partner with Design to make data trust visible, including record provenance, freshness, confidence, and actions customers can take when data is wrong.
  • Work with GTM, Support, and Customer Success to improve comparative data-quality evaluations and learn from customer experiences.
  • Define the KPI tree and learning loop for the product area and use them to prioritize, measure, and iterate.
  • Write strategy documents, PRDs, launch plans, and tradeoff memos that clarify product direction and decisions.
