Data Ops - Data Builder

Cigna Healthcare•Connecticut Work at Home, CT
•$102,400 - $170,600

About The Position

The Data Builder is a hands-on individual contributor who turns architectural designs and business requirements into trusted, reusable, production-grade data products through MVP. The role builds physical Silver structures to the enterprise-agnostic model and reference patterns designed by Data Architecture, and co-designs and builds Gold data products containing business logic, metrics, and functional knowledge. It combines business fluency with data engineering discipline and serves as an execution counterpart to Data Architecture and Data Analysis, Products & Integration. The role builds and promotes data products through governed CI/CD pipelines, captures business context and metadata, and applies engineering standards, quality controls, security, and cost checks. It partners with architecture, analysis, platform engineering, IT, DevOps and AI Enablement, data science, business analytics, and service partners. Data Operations may own particular Gold assets, but the Gold layer is democratized across teams. The position also sets and upholds Data Operations build standards across the Hyderabad team and external service partners in a global delivery model.

  • Strong software-engineering discipline, including version control with Git, code review, and efficient, reusable code.
  • Ability to performance-tune and cost-optimize Spark and SQL transformations at scale.
  • Experience with automated data-quality testing and validation built into solutions.
  • Ability to learn new data domains quickly and turn business logic into reusable data products.
  • Ability to apply AI and automation to accelerate development while preserving quality and governance.

Nice To Haves

  • Refactor learning-stage and bespoke work into durable, reusable, production-ready assets.
  • Build physical Silver structures to the enterprise-agnostic Silver model and reference patterns designed by Data Architecture.
  • Implement Silver designs faithfully and promote them to production through governed CI/CD pipelines.
  • Capture business context and metadata during development and hand off to trusted partner teams as readiness allows.
  • Build Gold data products through MVP and promote them to production grade through governed CI/CD pipelines.
  • Uphold build standards and guardrails for Gold solutions across teams.
  • Apply development patterns, naming conventions, and build standards that connect data products across the ecosystem.
  • Move work through development, testing, and productionization in CI/CD pipelines, clearing quality, security, and cost checks.
  • Use AI and automation to accelerate development and testing while maintaining governance, security, and quality expectations.
  • Partner with Data Architecture to build to Silver designs and co-design Gold within established standards.
  • Partner with Data Analysis, Products & Integration to build against requirements, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with Platform Engineering, IT, DevOps & AI Enablement on ingestion, pipelines, and automation frameworks.
  • Collaborate with data science and business analytics teams to ensure Gold data products support their models, analyses, and decisions.
