About The Position

Oracle Health Platform Engineering builds and operates shared platform services that power secure, reliable product delivery at scale. The organization uses AI-assisted approaches to accelerate design and delivery while maintaining standards for security, correctness, and operability. Oracle is seeking a Principal Software Developer (IC4) to lead the design and delivery of complex platform capabilities, improve platform reliability and security, and mentor engineers through technical contributions and influence. The role is based in the United States. The position applies AI-assisted engineering across design, implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and operations. The engineer will establish team practices for AI-assisted development, coach others, and ensure that AI use follows company-approved tools and policies and accounts for security, privacy, intellectual property, and compliance.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
At least 7 years of professional software development experience.
Demonstrated experience building and operating distributed services in production.
Strong system design skills, including data modeling, API design, and performance and reliability tradeoffs.
Demonstrated ability to drive technical alignment across teams and deliver results in ambiguous problem spaces.
A consistent track record of applying AI-assisted engineering to improve delivery speed and quality across multiple projects.

Nice To Haves

Strong IAM-related service design experience, including token-based authentication, service-to-service authentication, authorization enforcement, and policy design.
Experience building or integrating user provisioning and entitlement services, lifecycle workflows, and audit logging.
Experience with secure platform patterns, including secrets management, key rotation, secure defaults, and defense-in-depth.
Cloud experience, with OCI strongly desired; AWS, Azure, or GCP are also acceptable, including containerization and orchestration.

Responsibilities

Lead architecture, design, and implementation for complex platform services and shared components.
Own key technical decisions, drive design reviews, and ensure solutions meet security, scalability, performance, and operability requirements.
Establish and improve engineering standards across services, including API consistency, test strategy, deployment patterns, and observability.
Mentor engineers through design guidance, code reviews, and technical leadership.
Drive reliability improvements, including SLOs and SLIs, capacity and performance planning, incident analysis, and automation.
Partner with Security and Compliance to ensure secure-by-design implementations and audit readiness.
Collaborate across organizations to align roadmaps and deliver cross-team platform initiatives.
Apply AI-assisted engineering to improve delivery speed and quality across design, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting.
Establish patterns for AI-assisted development, such as test generation strategies, review checklists for AI-generated changes, and documentation or ADR generation; coach others on effective usage.
Evaluate AI-assisted approaches with attention to security, privacy, intellectual property, and compliance, and ensure usage aligns with company-approved tooling and policies.
Use AI to improve operational excellence, including incident triage, log and trace analysis, and automation of repetitive operational tasks.
