About The Position

The Principal, Platform Product Manager leads the development and execution of complex product strategies and roadmaps for availability-focused platform capabilities, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs. This role drives cross-functional collaboration, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize platform performance, reliability and scalability. The position requires expertise in managing product lifecycles, influencing stakeholders, and integrating emerging technologies to support highly available, resilient solutions. The successful candidate will foster continuous improvement, mentor team members, and promote operational excellence while maintaining high standards of integrity and accountability in delivering impactful platform products. Our team is part of the Observability organization within Global Tech Platforms (GTP), a key function of Walmart Global Tech. We focus on building platform capabilities that improve the availability, reliability, and operational visibility of Walmart’s technology ecosystem at scale. Through data-driven insights, AI-enabled capabilities and dependable observability products, we help teams make informed decisions about platform performance and resilience. Our work supports Walmart Global Tech’s commitment to operational excellence and reliable technology experiences for associates and customers. As part of GTP’s Observability organization within Walmart Global Tech, you will shape platform capabilities that advance availability, reliability, and operational visibility. You will connect product strategy, platform engineering, observability, data, and AI to help teams make informed decisions about performance and resilience.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in platform product management with a strong focus on product strategy and roadmap development.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in data-driven decision making, utilizing analytics and KPIs to guide product lifecycle and performance improvements.
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies, software development, and product engineering principles.
  • Skilled in managing complex product requirements and driving scalable, customer-centric solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring teams and fostering continuous learning and adaptability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related area and 9 years’ experience in product management or related experience at a technology and data-driven company focused on building products with new and emerging technologies.
  • 11 Years’ experience at a technology and data-driven company focused on building products with new and emerging technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, business administration, or related area and 8 years’ experience in back-end platform or highly complex B2B/C products or experience in roles requiring data-driven decision making and quantitative analysis skills (including deep knowledge of Excel, SQL, or statistics)
  • Supervisory experience
  • Candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Drive plans by identifying customer and operational needs across availability and observability platforms.
  • Communicate roadmaps, strategies, and priorities aligned with business and technology goals.
  • Build stakeholder relationships across product, engineering, architecture, operations, data, and AI.
  • Lead product lifecycle management, including MVP creation, rollout, adoption, and scaling complex platform products.
  • Use data, analytics, AI-enabled insights, and KPIs to guide decisions and measure success.
