About The Position

The Principal, Organizational Effectiveness helps Macy’s grow by making change stick and making work simpler. This role, part of the Talent Center of Excellence, blends change management and process improvement to drive adoption of enterprise initiatives, fuel growth, and help colleagues do their best work. It means diagnosing challenges, co-creating solutions, and deploying change in ways that build trust, strengthen collaboration, and bring our culture vision to life. Because change is hard and progress is rarely a straight line, success requires curiosity, empathy, creativity, resilience, and discipline to turn complex problems into clear, practical, and lasting solutions.

Requirements

  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead change efforts that make complex transformations clear, actionable, and sustainable - helping colleagues feel ready, willing, and able to adopt new ways of working.
  • Work shoulder to shoulder with leaders and colleagues to co-create solutions, bringing candor and clarity to tough conversations so priorities are transparent, and efforts translate to real impact.
  • Apply process improvement practices to simplify work, reduce friction, and create the conditions for greater agility and adaptability.
  • Translate strategies into practical action - through straightforward communication, engaging storytelling, and the right mix of tools and support.
  • Build strong relationships across the enterprise, influencing and aligning diverse perspectives to move work forward.
  • Measure progress, listen to feedback, and adapt approaches to ensure change delivers both business results and a better day-to-day experience for colleagues.
  • Infuse Macy’s culture vision and values - trust, service, excellence, understanding, anticipation - into initiatives so that change strengthens performance and the way we work together.
  • Contribute thought partnership and a continuous-improvement mindset to Macy’s overall Talent Strategy, as part of the Talent Center of Excellence.
