About The Position

NBCUniversal is seeking a Principal of Product Design for its Global Streaming Product Team, specifically within the Commerce Product Design Team. This role focuses on creating and launching compelling user experiences for the end-to-end customer journey, from prospect to subscription purchase, including managing upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations. The team works closely with design, technology, and business teams to deliver exceptional streaming products globally, serving propositions like Peacock, NOW, Sky Showtime, and Showmax. The Principal will provide creative thought leadership, drive UX design solutions, and mentor junior designers, partnering with Product Management and Engineering to define product strategy and experience.

Requirements

  • 8+ years industry experience in the field of UX/Product Design
  • A degree in design, computer science, human factor design
  • An online portfolio reflecting that experience, including shipped and currently in-market products, and demonstrating end-to-end design methodology
  • Advanced expertise with leading design tools, including the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, Sketch, Figma, and other collaboration and prototyping tools
  • Past experience working on a commerce product that entails a commerce journey
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience designing for web, mobile, and other application platforms

Responsibilities

  • Mentor, conceive, define, design, develop, test, and launch vivid and compelling experiences that are contextually relevant, exceedingly useful, and will drive results.
  • Provide creative thought leadership and drive UX design solutions by combining industry best practices with expertise and insight about human behavior.
  • Lead design teams in ideation, work with product and engineering to refine design deliverables, and be involved in the project through launch.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and other internal partners to define the strategy & experience of consumer-facing products.
  • Deliver end-to-end designs for high-value, consumer-centric digital products.
  • Translate requirements to flows that can leverage existing flows and/or establish new flows.
  • Grow the fidelity of the designs and care for the edge cases, and the nuances of the experience across various devices.
  • Work with and mentor more junior product designers.
  • Work with foundational leads, such as UX research, UX engineer, UX design systems lead, and UX content design/UX writer.
  • Present designs to all audiences. Formulate and communicate ideas and plans to peers, leadership, and engineering contributors.
  • Balance inputs from business, design, research, technology, and external partners. Create a network of cross-functional partners. Build rapport and earn trust.
  • Collaborate with product owners and engineers to successfully deliver products to market.
  • Lead others. Grow talent. Provide creative direction and mentorship to designers and define patterns and practices for the team and the product.
  • Provide updates to leadership and address blockers for the team.
  • Act as an ambassador for a healthy and collaborative culture for our product organization.
