About The Position

TRM Labs is seeking a Head of Product Design to lead and grow its product design team. This is a player-coach role where you will still be actively involved in design work while leading a team of five designers. The goal is to establish TRM's product design team as a leader in agentic design, where AI is a genuine collaborator. You will be responsible for attracting, hiring, developing, and retaining top design talent, setting team priorities, and being a thought leader in agentic design both internally and externally. Design at TRM is proactive, shaping product decisions from the initial sketch and setting industry standards.

Requirements

7+ years as a practicing product designer
3+ years directly managing a design team
Has built or substantially grown a product design team at a B2B SaaS company: hiring, developing, and retaining designers, not just inheriting a roster
Already designs with AI tools as part of a real workflow (prototyping, critique, or production) and can demo it
Experience designing product surfaces where AI or automation does real work on a user's behalf
Player-coach: still designs, not just directs design. Can point to something personally shipped recently (a flow, a prototype, or feedback given directly in the file)
People leadership: has built or grown a successful product design team before, run a team against more demand than headcount, making real trade-offs and saying no to stakeholders when necessary
Taste: knows what good looks like across visual design, interaction design, and systems thinking, and can explain why something is wrong in a sentence a designer can act on
Agentic fluency: AI already does real work in your process, not just your team's: prototyping, critique, production, and the skills or plugins you've built and shipped to get there. Can walk us through a workflow you've actually built.
