About the role: As a Principal Mechanical Engineer you will lead others in the design and analyses of the AP1000 and AP300 power plants. You will report to the Engineering Manager of AP1000 HVAC and BOP Fluid Systems and be located at our facility in Cranberry Township, PA -or- Rock Hill, SC. The position is hybrid, you will be on site 2 days per week.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (Masters preferred) (alternate degrees such as nuclear, aerospace, structural engineering, or materials science, etc. will be considered with component design experience)
  • Mechanical PE license
  • Significant experience with nuclear, fossil and/or cogen power plant turbine island systems and equipment and designs (preferred)
  • Experience in turbine island system and component level design and integration
  • Significant experience in a technical leadership role, as an individual contributor and leading a technical team in the development of design and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience required or 6 with an advanced degree (10 plus years of applicable experience preferred).
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other component, system, and manufacturing leads on the integration of the turbine generator and related subsystems and work through emergent design, specification, and procurement issues.
  • Work with testing organization to develop plans for functional and qualification testing.
  • Work with project managers and subsystem/component leads to develop project schedules.
  • Lead complex technical projects, coordinating diverse teams to accomplish project goals while meeting established schedule and budget requirements.
  • Identify and define technical issues, risks and challenges, and direct efforts to successful resolution.
  • Bring engineering rigor to resolution of problems that are sometimes loosely- or only partially defined, requiring experience within given discipline.
  • Incorporate the use of industry, regulatory, or NRC/DOE/ASME codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the turbine island and interfaces with the nuclear island in design activities.
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, and collaborate with other personnel including partners such as national laboratories, sub-contractors, partners, suppliers, fabricators, and customers.
