About The Position

Leidos is seeking an experienced Principal Java Developer for its Intel Security Sector's Analysis Solutions Business Area in Bethesda, Maryland. The role supports Agile development, operations, and maintenance of mission-critical systems within a DevOps framework. The developer contributes across the software development lifecycle, from scope definition and work estimation through architecture, design, coding, and unit testing. The position combines hands-on development of high-performance applications with backend architecture contributions, technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration with cross-functional Agile teams to meet complex customer requirements and support national security missions.

Requirements

Must possess an active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.
In-depth experience with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and software development practices.
In-depth experience with Java, the Spring Framework, microservices architecture and design patterns, RESTful APIs, and integration with relational and NoSQL databases.
In-depth experience integrating with and delivering software solutions within DevOps toolsets and practices.
Direct experience with software testing and performance tools such as JUnit, and scripting languages including Python and Bash, in an Agile development environment.
In-depth experience developing solutions in commercial cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, and leveraging cloud data services such as S3, RDS, and EFS.
In-depth experience using version control systems and issue/problem tracking systems.
Bachelor's degree and 12 or more years of prior relevant experience, or a Master's degree and 10 or more years of relevant experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Nice To Haves

Experience developing software that interfaces with data technologies including Elasticsearch, Postgres, DynamoDB, Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, AWS Lambda, and AWS S3.
Experience with SAFe development practices.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend microservices using Java and the Spring Framework.
Participate in software programming initiatives, shape backend architecture, mentor team members, and conduct code reviews.
Develop and direct software system validation and testing methods using JUnit and Katalon, supporting automated deployment technologies.
Develop, prototype, and deploy solutions within cloud-based platforms using available platform services.
Analyze infrastructure requirements through proof-of-concept development, performance testing, and end-to-end testing, and coordinate infrastructure needs driven by developed software.
Support the Agile software development lifecycle following Program SAFe practices, coordinating with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to align and implement User Stories according to customer use cases.
Document and perform software development activities, including deploying build artifacts across environments using GitFlow constructs and DevOps tools such as GitHub and Jenkins, as well as scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
Apply and identify software development best practices and standard operating procedures to develop solutions for customer technical needs.
