Principal High Speed Analog/Mixed Signal Designer

Monolithic Power Systems•San Jose, CA

About The Position

The candidate will join the memory design team supporting the definition, specification, system simulation, and implementation of future DDR- and LPDDR-related product IPs. The work centers on circuit architecture and design for critical high-speed analog and digital blocks, as well as defining specifications for the high-speed data path. The role is based in San Jose, US.

Requirements

  • MS in Electrical Engineering and 7 or more years of analog/mixed-signal circuit design experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering and 5 or more years of analog/mixed-signal circuit design experience.
  • Prior experience with high-speed analog circuits such as transmitters, receivers, PLLs, DLLs, PIs, or clock distribution.
  • Solid knowledge of design principles for practical design tradeoffs.
  • Solid knowledge of basic building blocks such as bias circuits, op-amps, and LDOs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing memory interfaces such as DDR4/5 or serial links such as PCIe.
  • Experience modeling with Verilog-A, Verilog, or MATLAB.
  • Experience working on leading R&D and future technology development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Own high-speed analog/mixed-signal designs at chip and block level.
  • Design, simulate, and characterize high-performance, high-speed circuits.
  • Create high-level models for design tradeoff analysis and behavioral models for verification simulations.
  • Work with digital and system teams to define architectures and design plans that meet budget, schedule, and project deliverables.
  • Create floor plans and work with the layout team to demonstrate post-extraction performance.
  • Document analysis and simulation results to show that the design meets critical electrical and timing parameters and supports the pre-silicon verification flow.
  • Work with the lab and system team on test plans, silicon bring-up, and characterization.
  • Understand and communicate applicable standards and their relevance to the project team.
  • Mentor junior designers.
  • Participate in and contribute to development flows that improve design execution efficiency and quality.
