About The Position

The Principal Financial Analyst is a strategic leadership role that drives the financial planning, analysis, and operational initiatives that support the Court’s mission and long-term goals. This position offers the opportunity to lead impactful projects, guide high-performing teams, and shape policies that improve organizational effectiveness across the Court. Working in a dynamic and complex legal environment, the Principal Financial Analyst partners with executive leadership and judicial officers to deliver innovative financial solutions and effective data-driven recommendations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in public or business administration, public policy, economics, finance, or a closely related field – AND – three (3) years of progressively responsible experience involving financial management analysis, economic forecasting, financial planning and/or implementation, or governmental budget and finance analysis.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience involving financial management analysis, economic forecasting, financial planning and/or implementation, or governmental budget and finance analysis – AND – additional four (4) years of recent experience providing complex analytical work in support of accounting, financial, statistical, contract, budget, or other management analyses.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of public sector budgeting, financial forecasting, accounting principles, reconciliation procedures, and financial analysis methodologies.
  • Proven experience leading complex projects, programs, or organizational studies in a government or court environment to improve efficiency, accuracy, internal controls, and customer service.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and policies.
  • Experience leveraging data systems, analytics tools, and financial technologies to improve accuracy, efficiency, and insight generation.
  • Commitment to professionalism and continuous improvement with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, including staff development and performance management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively.

  • Experience leading or participating in technology initiatives, including system enhancements, software implementations, testing, user acceptance reviews, and process redesign projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise staff engaged in complex financial analysis, budgeting, and program administration activities.
  • Conduct complex financial, operational, and organizational studies to support Court initiatives and strategic decision-making.
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability by producing complete staff work, independently managing complex assignments from inception through implementation, and ensuring timely, high-quality results with minimal oversight.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor financial programs, policies, procedures, and performance measures.
  • Analyze resource needs, evaluate cost-benefit alternatives, and recommend process improvements for operational efficiency, using sound judgment and continuous change agility principles that advance the Court’s Strategic Plan.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial reports, recommendations, and technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders, effectively conveying complex information across varying levels of expertise.
