About The Position

The Principal Engineering Technician Certification plans and applies advanced engineering and certification discipline knowledge to coordinate and assure the continued certification and compliance of ANZAC Class vessels across the asset lifecycle. Provides technical leadership and direction in the integration of class society requirements, seaworthiness standards, and engineering evidence to deliver complex certification outcomes. Leads and coordinates stakeholders to ensure the effective conduct of surveys, certification activities, and compliance management, while providing expert advice and developing leadership capability within the engineering and seaworthiness functions.

Requirements

  • Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance
  • Hold a technical qualification (certificate or associated degree) in related discipline
  • Approximately 8 years relevant experience in relatable technical/engineering roles.
  • Approximately 2 years of experience in managing applicable engineering function and/or technical delivery.
  • A good understanding of applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software).
  • Proven experience in systems / safety engineering or ship maintenance management

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment/resolution and for design of improvements.
  • Lead technical investigations and analysis applying technical judgement from experience as part of decision making and recommendation.
  • Apply knowledge to produce and review technical documentation and solutions in support of assigned task (in accordance with applicable DoA).
  • Lead accurate and appropriate technical documentation records being securely developed and maintained in the appropriate data management system to support through life knowledge capture.
  • Provide good engineering advice in area of technical or operational expertise & experience to the wider Babcock as necessary to maximise knowledge transfer and build operational capability.
  • Expected to make complex engineering decisions throughout the lifecycle of the program/product.
  • Have a good understanding of the design, analysis, manufacturing and support techniques associated with their discipline.
  • Have a satisfactory awareness of techniques and technologies that may interface with products and own discipline.
  • Produce and review technical engineering processes to ensure integration with all operational areas.
  • Produce and review business development artifacts to facilitate the development of successful bids (in accordance with applicable DoA).
  • Lead development of sustainable and innovative solutions and processes for the benefit of the organisation, the community and the world.
