Principal Engineer, Streaming Systems
About The Position
Hightouch is seeking a principal engineer to join their Streaming Systems team. This role will lead the development of high-throughput systems responsible for collecting, forwarding, and performing real-time computations on billions of behavioral events from customer users. The infrastructure built will ingest clickstream, product interaction, and transactional data, serving as the platform for the company's "Cursor for Marketers" AI agent product. The company's streaming products have experienced significant revenue growth, necessitating a scalable infrastructure capable of handling millions of messages per second with single-second latency. A recently added computation engine for real-time user experience personalization is also driving demand. This is a greenfield opportunity for an engineer who enjoys leading other engineers and tackling complex scaling challenges.

Responsibilities
- Preserving <1s end to end system latency at throughput over 1,000,000 messages / second.
- Improving caching strategies for our online computation service.
- Architecting a system that can deduplicate message delivery at 1,000,000 messages / second.
- Developing patterns for elegant and zero-downtime deployments in our online computation service.
- Owning and delivering projects from start to finish.
- Working directly with customers to solve their hardest scaling problems.
- Having significant influence over the technical roadmap.
- Mentoring and upskilling engineers.
- Broadcasting and encouraging technical excellence in building, deploying, and maintaining distributed systems at scale.
