About The Position

Dell Technologies is hiring a Principal Engineer, Solutions Architecture - Networking, on its Solutions Architecture team. The role works directly with customers to assess, design, plan, migrate, integrate, and optimize networking infrastructure for AI workloads, accelerated computing platforms, and modern enterprise environments. The engineer acts as a trusted technical advisor, ensuring network architectures provide the performance, scalability, resiliency, and operational simplicity needed for AI and data-intensive workloads. The position is part of Dell’s Global Professional Services Network team, which provides assessment, architecture, design, implementation, and consulting services for networking and AI infrastructure solutions. The engineer develops and maintains expertise in AI-ready network architectures, including high-speed Ethernet fabrics, GPU interconnect technologies, data center and campus networking, security, and network automation. The role supports customer engagements from planning and pre-sales through implementation, migration, validation, deployment, and operational handoff. Travel is up to 50%, and the schedule may include occasional after-hours and weekend activities.

Requirements

At least 7 years of experience in enterprise networking, consulting services, professional services, or infrastructure deployment.
Experience designing and implementing large-scale data center networks.
Experience leading customer-facing architecture, planning, and consulting engagements.
Knowledge of AI infrastructure architecture and planning.
Knowledge of GPU cluster networking concepts.
Knowledge of high-performance Ethernet fabrics.
Knowledge of AI factory and accelerated computing infrastructure design.
Knowledge of network performance optimization for AI workloads.
Knowledge of scalable data center architecture design.
Strong written, verbal, presentation, consulting, and executive communication skills.
Ability to lead customer workshops and architecture discussions.
Strong documentation and technical writing capabilities.
Dependable attendance and flexibility for planned and emergency travel, including occasional after-hours and weekend activities.
Must possess a valid passport or be able to obtain one within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience supporting AI, HPC, GPU, or accelerated computing environments.
Experience with network automation, observability, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
Knowledge of NVIDIA Spectrum networking platforms.
Knowledge of NVIDIA AI Factory architectures.

Responsibilities

Lead customer engagements focused on AI-ready infrastructure planning and network architecture.
Design scalable AI networking solutions for GPU clusters, AI factories, machine learning platforms, and large-scale training and inference environments.
Develop network architectures for high-performance east-west traffic in AI and HPC environments.
Advise customers on accelerated computing network designs using Dell and NVIDIA technologies.
Identify infrastructure bottlenecks and recommend improvements to maximize GPU utilization and AI workload performance.
Serve as networking lead during AI infrastructure assessments, workshops, proofs of concept, and production deployments.
Support Solution Architects and account teams as the technical Services subject matter expert for networking and AI infrastructure opportunities.
Participate in customer discovery sessions, architecture workshops, and executive technical briefings.
Contribute to services statements of work, project scopes, implementation strategies, and risk assessments.
Provide technical guidance on AI networking best practices.
Analyze customer environments and gather technical requirements.
Design, propose, and communicate architecture requirements to stakeholders.
Provide remote design, configuration, and validation, as well as on-site deployment support.
Develop deployment workbooks, migration plans, validation procedures, and implementation documentation.
Ensure delivery resources understand customer-specific implementation and migration requirements.
Act as the first line of technical escalation for assigned customer engagements.
Lead major network deployments, AI fabric implementations, and migration projects.
Design and validate high-speed Ethernet fabrics for GPU-accelerated workloads.
Create network validation plans, performance testing procedures, and scalability assessments.
Travel as required for workshops, assessments, architecture reviews, and deployment activities.
Execute engagements according to established delivery methodologies and project governance processes.
Serve as a technical leader on complex enterprise and AI infrastructure projects.
Coordinate activities across architecture, implementation, and support teams.
Assume project leadership responsibilities as needed and remain accountable for successful customer outcomes.
Support operational handoffs to customers and Dell support organizations.
Collaborate with Dell engineering, product management, support teams, and strategic technology partners.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to team members.
Develop reusable best practices, deployment methodologies, reference architectures, and technical collateral.
Maintain expert-level knowledge of Dell networking, AI infrastructure, and ecosystem technologies.
Participate in internal enablement and knowledge-sharing programs.
