About The Position

The Principal Emerging Applications Architect identifies and defines emerging technical challenges and application opportunities related to glass fiber-based materials and systems. This role works closely with customers, commercial teams, and technical organizations to translate unmet needs into clear problem statements, develop innovative solution pathways, guide experimental validation, and assess technical and business value. The position serves as a key technical advisor in shaping advanced application development and long-range growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related technical field
  • Minimum 3 years experience in semiconductor and/or printed circuit board substrates.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and develop innovative, practical solutions.
  • Experience engaging directly with customers to define needs, evaluate applications, and shape technical solutions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and build productive working relationships across technical, commercial, and customer-facing groups.
  • Ability to connect technical analysis with business value, including risk, cost, and opportunity assessment.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and define complex customer and market challenges involving glass fiber-based materials, systems, and end-use applications.
  • Engage directly with customers and external stakeholders to understand unmet needs, performance gaps, and emerging application requirements.
  • Conduct technical and industry research to evaluate trends, technologies, and solution pathways.
  • Develop models and analytical frameworks to quantify the impact of material and system attribute changes, including fiber, polymer, and related variables.
  • Guide cross-functional teams in the design of experiments, trials, and validation plans to evaluate potential solutions.
  • Assess technical feasibility, business value, risk, and implementation considerations for new application opportunities.
  • Provide technical leadership and recommendations to management, commercial teams, and customers on advanced application concepts and development priorities.
  • Help translate emerging technical insights into differentiated products, capabilities, and growth opportunities.
  • Ensure quality requirements are embedded in application development to meet customer expectations and commercial objectives.
