Principal Electrical Engineer

Oracle•Santa Clara, CA
•$114,600 - $234,600

About The Position

Designs, develops, and integrates electrical systems for Oracle server hardware, from system conception through deployment in cloud data centers. The role has full product ownership and covers architecture, analysis, detailed design, development, integration, testing, and delivery of server boards based on high-end server-grade merchant silicon. The engineer ensures that designs meet functional, performance, power-efficiency, security, reliability, cost, schedule, manufacturability, and industry-standard requirements. Responsibilities include component selection and qualification, FPGA design, schematic capture, board floor planning, and collaboration with CAD designers on placement, routing, and design reviews. The engineer works with system leads, architects, SI and PI engineers, firmware, software, diagnostics, operations and mechanical engineering, industrial design, EMC design, and external manufacturers. The position also involves prototype bring-up, validation, test automation and planning, lab debugging, sustaining engineering, technical documentation, and mentoring junior engineers. Additional responsibilities may include leading regulatory compliance and pre-compliance testing for safety, EMC, and environmental requirements across global markets.
