About The Position

The Principal Electrical Design Engineer is an experienced technical lead who researches, develops, designs, tests, and transfers next-generation high-reliability opto-electronic network elements into manufacturing. The role develops novel high-reliability and fault-tolerant analog and digital circuit designs, which may include microcontrollers and FPGAs, as well as electro-optic components such as photodiodes, modulators, EDFAs, VOAs, and lasers. It also contributes to planning, platforming, innovation across network elements, and development of product, system, and firmware requirements. The engineer is responsible for electrical design activities from concept through manufacture for new terminal or undersea network elements, ensuring project goals and timelines are met. The role leads and improves development processes, including organized design and DFMEA reviews, and collaborates with electrical, optical, firmware, reliability, mechanical, and other engineering teams, vendors, and production personnel. It may include leading and mentoring less experienced engineers, teams, and technicians. The position reports to the Director of Network Element Electrical Design. The role is based in Newington, New Hampshire. The listed schedule is 5x2, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with domestic shoreside travel. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
