About The Position

Oracle is recruiting a senior, multidisciplinary data center commissioning lead to support increased concurrent projects delivering data centers in the Ashburn area. The role leads commissioning activities through Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and serves as the direct interface between Oracle and its data center partners as building systems are completed and tested, preparing facilities for reliable service and eventual handover to operations. The engineer reviews designs and supports delivery of mission-critical facilities, setting Oracle’s approach to commissioning and working with delivery, construction, and colocation partners to achieve successful IST and turnover. The position is based in the Ashburn, Virginia area; travel can be up to two weeks per month, and the candidate must live in or be willing to move to the area.

Requirements

• Professional qualifications in mechanical, controls, or electrical engineering, with a commissioning focus.
• Extensive experience reviewing designs and delivering mission-critical facilities.
• Expert operating knowledge of engineering systems, including advanced diagnostics and repairs.
• Expert knowledge and application of safe working practices, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Ability to apply company processes, procedures, and industry standards to resolve issues.
• Expert communication skills, including technical writing and cross-functional SOP development.
• Must live in or be willing to move to the Ashburn, Virginia area.
• Able to travel up to two weeks per month.

Responsibilities

• Oversee commissioning for multiple lease-provider projects.
• Provide guidance and engineering leadership to ensure project quality, commissioning, and engineering initiatives meet or exceed company expectations.
• Use expert operating knowledge of engineering systems, including advanced diagnostics and repairs, and apply Oracle processes, procedures, and industry standards to resolve issues.
• Apply expert-level safe working practices and evaluate the safe working practices of others.
• Work with other engineering disciplines and colocation-provider engineering teams to ensure systems are adequately designed, specified, and installed for robust Oracle operations.
• Help identify and develop training programs and mentor junior team members; serve as a subject-matter expert on multiple systems and train others inside and outside the group.
• Provide expert input on contract administration, including generation and review of contracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and related documentation.
• Communicate at an expert level, including cross-functional SOP development and relevant technical writing; collaborate across departments.
• Lead Oracle’s interface with data center partners for commissioning electrical, control, and mechanical systems, including primary and backup electrical plants, mechanical plants, life-safety and fire-suppression systems, and building monitoring and controls systems.
• Review commissioning test procedures that verify equipment, subsystems, and systems against the basis of design, sequence of operations, and owner’s project requirements.
• Contribute to Oracle design specifications to support contracting reliable, resilient, and efficient data centers.
• Expand technical knowledge through experience with systems, vendor training, industry groups or meetings, and shadowing others.
