Principal Customer Zero Enablement Change Enablement

Workday•Pleasanton, CA

About The Position

Workday is seeking an experienced enablement professional to lead Customer Zero enablement for assigned products and initiatives. The role connects Workday’s Business Technology Customer Zero Enablement team with Product Management, championing internal adoption of Workday products—including AI agents and emerging capabilities—before they reach the broader market. It represents employees’ needs and feedback to product teams while preparing internal users to adopt and work with early-access, unfinished, or newly released software. The position has senior-level scope and influence through expertise and cross-functional leadership rather than formal people management. The successful candidate will define enablement strategy, make independent decisions about approaches for new or special assignments, and work effectively amid ambiguity. The role calls for enthusiasm for early adoption, grounding in change and adoption principles, and a strong perspective on how AI is reshaping internal workflows. Workday’s Flex Work approach combines in-person and remote work. Employees spend at least half of their time each quarter in an office or in the field with customers, prospects, or partners, with flexibility to shape schedules around business, team, and personal needs. Remote home-office employees may also attend important in-person gatherings.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in change management, IT or product enablement, internal communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and leading end-to-end enablement or adoption strategies for large-scale technology rollouts, with independent judgment on methods and approach.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and technologies in work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving, or critically evaluating their use.
  • Critical-thinking skills, including analyzing issues and opportunities broadly, anticipating consequences and impacts, and seeking data, root causes, and new perspectives.
  • Ability to make progress in ambiguous and changing situations, act thoughtfully amid unknowns, and simplify complex initiatives into actionable steps.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work with speed and agility, and communicate credible visions and end states that gain stakeholder support.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, learning new capabilities, and applying them in practice.
  • Ability to build inclusive, collaborative relationships with internal partners, show respect and accountability, seek diverse perspectives, and manage differences through direct feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in a formal change management methodology, such as PROSCI or CCMP.
  • Experience designing persona-based enablement campaigns and curating success stories that resonate with internal and external audiences.
  • Comfort using generative AI tools for content creation, drafting, and analysis, with sound judgment about when human review and nuance are essential.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the Customer Zero enablement strategy for assigned products and initiatives, including how internal teams are onboarded, supported, and motivated to adopt capabilities before general availability.
  • Represent employees’ day-to-day experiences to Product Management, translating their friction points and enthusiasm into product-shaping feedback.
  • Develop and execute the Customer Zero communication strategy, explaining what is changing, why employees receive early access, and what is expected of them; review, deliver, and measure communication tactics.
  • Champion responsible use of AI by helping internal teams adopt Workday AI agents and capabilities in daily workflows, using generative AI to accelerate content creation and personalization, and evaluating adoption before broad usage data exists.
  • Partner with Product Management and Business Operations to determine strategy, sequencing, and readiness criteria for internal product and feature rollouts.
  • Create materials that prepare internal teams to be effective early adopters, including explanations of capabilities, known limitations, and how to provide useful feedback.
  • Use channels and formats such as Slack messages and channels, email announcements, short-form video tutorials and demonstrations, intranet pages, FAQs, AI-powered chatbots, and knowledge assistants.
  • Collaborate with IT product managers, enablement, and communications teams on a cohesive internal adoption story that can also be shared with prospects and customers.
  • Build persona-based enablement campaigns, tailoring messaging, content, and channels to employee roles, product familiarity, or teams.
  • Curate and share Customer Zero success stories, capturing internal wins, lessons learned, and measurable outcomes for internal momentum and external proof points.
  • Define and track adoption and business-outcome metrics for Customer Zero products; use data and AI-assisted analytics to measure usage, sentiment, and internal benefits, and feed findings into product development and external narratives.
  • Work with urgency and organization to meet or exceed timelines while managing the ambiguity of internal rollouts of unfinished or newly released software.
  • Contribute an adoption and end-user perspective to in-person and virtual collaboration sessions.
  • Stay current on Customer Zero, AI, and change enablement trends and bring relevant ideas and practices to the team.
