About The Position

Oracle Media Services is hiring a Principal Core Infrastructure Engineer (IC4) to help lead Studio in the Cloud, a product line enabling studio-grade creative workloads on OCI. This individual contributor owns ambiguous features from design through production readiness, with emphasis on OCI Batch, Global Object Storage, customer-critical blockers, and operational maturity. The role leads end-to-end design and execution for critical platform features, drives Global Object Storage acceptance and production readiness, strengthens observability and incident-prevention practices, and coordinates delivery across engineering, product, operations, support, infrastructure, and customer-facing teams. It also introduces practical AI-first engineering workflows, mentors engineers, translates customer adoption blockers into technical plans, and communicates risks, decisions, and status to stakeholders. The position involves designing scalable, reliable distributed systems; defining scalability requirements; optimizing high-throughput workloads; establishing telemetry and reliability metrics; proactively troubleshooting production issues; supporting operational readiness and incident response; implementing security and compliance measures; and developing infrastructure automation and safe change-management practices. The role is focused on production-grade creative workflows in the cloud, where scale, reliability, cost, and customer trust are important.

Requirements

  • Senior-level experience designing, building, and operating distributed cloud services, workflow orchestration systems, media platforms, GPU infrastructure, or high-scale production platforms.
  • Evidence of leading ambiguous initiatives through architecture, execution ownership, dependency management, and production readiness as an individual contributor.
  • Strong system-design judgment across scalability, reliability, observability, operational safety, cost, and customer impact.
  • Hands-on experience improving service operations, including incident response, runbooks, reliability metrics, readiness reviews, or customer escalation processes.
  • Experience using or introducing AI-assisted engineering workflows, developer-productivity automation, reporting automation, or SDLC improvements in a quality-conscious environment.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority across engineering, product, operations, support, and infrastructure teams.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for architecture tradeoffs, executive-ready status, roadmap risks, and operational decisions.
  • Ability to design and implement scalable distributed systems, performance and load testing, fault-tolerant architectures, and reliability practices.
  • Ability to establish KPIs and telemetry, build monitoring dashboards and alerts, and design correctness and fault-injection tests.
  • Ability to diagnose production issues, support incident response and root-cause investigations, and mentor peers.
  • Ability to implement security controls, address security gaps, maintain compliance documentation, and develop infrastructure automation.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in media workflows, cloud rendering, creative production platforms, Batch systems, GPU scheduling, HPC, or adjacent infrastructure is strongly relevant.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design and execution for critical Studio in the Cloud features across OCI Batch, Global Object Storage, and related platform dependencies.
  • Drive Global Object Storage acceptance and production-readiness workstreams by clarifying ownership, sequencing dependencies, and closing technical and operational gaps.
  • Strengthen operational posture through observability, runbooks, incident-prevention practices, readiness reviews, reliability metrics, and customer escalation discipline.
  • Partner across Oracle Media Services, OCI infrastructure, product, support, and customer-facing teams to remove blockers and align roadmap delivery with customer commitments.
  • Introduce practical AI-first engineering workflows that reduce reporting toil and improve delivery confidence without weakening review, security, or quality practices.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, technical direction, execution planning, and examples of senior-level ownership in ambiguous environments.
  • Translate customer adoption blockers into actionable technical plans with clear risks, milestones, tradeoffs, and operational handoffs.
  • Communicate technical status, decisions, risks, and options to senior engineering, product, and operational stakeholders.
  • Lead development and begin architecting components of scalable, elastic distributed systems.
  • Define scalability requirements for owned components and optimize code and data paths for high-throughput, hyper-scale workloads.
  • Design fault-tolerant, in-service-upgradable systems using redundancy, replication, failover, and policies for partitions; apply load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
  • Establish KPIs and telemetry, build dashboards and alerts, and design validation scenarios such as fault injection and brownouts.
  • Design and implement data replication and synchronization techniques to maintain correctness, durability, and availability.
  • Proactively diagnose, debug, and resolve production issues; mentor others in troubleshooting and incident response.
  • Meet operational readiness expectations, support incident response and root-cause investigations, and implement strategies to prevent customer-facing maintenance windows.
  • Implement security measures for multi-tenant environments, execute remediation plans, maintain compliance documentation, and develop infrastructure automation.
  • Create and adhere to change-management plans for patching, updates, and rollbacks, and design systems to support automation of these processes.
  • Coordinate project tasks and deliverables, adjust execution plans as resources or timelines change, and contribute to process improvements.
  • Participate in candidate interviews, assess candidates, and provide hiring recommendations.
