About The Position

This Principal Backup and Storage System Administrator position, based in Plano, TX, is an onsite role within Raytheon Digital Technology – Naval Programs. The role involves collaborating with various teams to support critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role requires developing, implementing, and maintaining secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions for complex IT infrastructure problems. The position requires an active Top Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years' experience
  • Must have Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Must have Linux or Windows experience.
  • Experience with NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, and Fiber Channel protocols.
  • Experience with data RAID, data backup uses and technologies.
  • Must have experience in one of the following: VMware vCenter, vSphere, VDI (Horizon), ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
  • Scripting experience.
  • Experience with developing documentation and communicate technical processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification).
  • Experience with Containerization Technologies such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Tanzu, and Rancher.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration\Continuous Delivery Tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with NetApp or Tape Library

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
  • Linux Server management to include configuration and maintenance.
  • Windows Server management fundamentals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
  • Design, build, configure, install, monitor, and support the scalable physical and virtual backup environment.
  • Manage backup operations to include scheduling and monitoring jobs, troubleshooting failures, and monitoring completion and storage capacity.
  • Develop and test disaster recovery plan to include data restoration, system recovery, and business continuity.
  • Implement, and maintain storage systems to ensure data integrity, availability, and optimal performance.
  • Perform capacity planning and performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Provide advanced support on L2/L3 tickets and troubleshoot technical issues reported by users.
  • Administer and optimize virtualization platforms.
  • Provide technical guidance on implementation, integrations, and upgrade initiatives.
  • Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
  • Develop and implement data backup and recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned.
  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.
  • Travel is required to other US Domestic locations as business needs dictate up to 10% travel.
