About The Position

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced analog/mixed-signal IC design engineer to participate in and/or lead the development of high-performance circuits and systems for TeraWave, its satellite communications network. The work includes analog filters (continuous-time or switched-capacitor), amplifiers, data converters, calibration circuitry, ESD protection, clocking, biasing, and power management in advanced CMOS and SiGe processes. The role contributes to performance optimization and innovative solutions supporting Blue Origin’s spaceflight mission. The position is based onsite in San Diego, California (preferred), or Cupertino, California. A temporary remote-work exception is approved while the San Diego site is being developed. Relocation is provided, travel may be required up to 10% of the time, and interviews include a technical assessment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10 or more years of experience designing and developing high-performance analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits and systems.
  • Strong expertise designing data converters, including delta-sigma, SAR, and pipeline ADCs and DACs.
  • Proficiency in mixed-mode and analog/RF modeling, simulation, and verification methodologies using tools such as MATLAB, Spectre, and AMS.
  • Deep understanding of electromigration and layout-dependent effects on circuit performance, particularly in advanced FinFET technologies.
  • Extensive experience in silicon characterization and debugging.
  • Strong background in analog/RF building blocks, including amplifiers, filters, oscillators, reference generation, and LDOs.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Familiarity with RF design concepts and metrics such as noise figure, intercept points, and line-up analysis.
  • Fundamental understanding of device physics for process selection and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with chip-level ESD protection design and verification.
  • Familiarity with digital design, digital verification, and SystemVerilog RNM modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and integration of advanced analog/mixed-signal functions in advanced CMOS and SiGe technologies, focusing on performance optimization and trade-off analysis.
  • Use Spectre and AMS flows to develop high-performance mixed-signal circuits and systems.
  • Collaborate with system architects to define block-level performance and interface requirements from system specifications and support integration into RF payloads and terminals.
  • Oversee layout, top-level integration, floorplanning, and verification through the tape-out cycle.
  • Work with validation and product engineers to develop test plans, facilitate bring-up, optimize performance, and support reliable, high-yield production cycles.
  • Investigate and implement fundamental analog building blocks to improve overall circuit performance.
  • Mentor junior engineers in analog design best practices.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Basic and supplemental life insurance.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Short- and long-term disability.
  • 401(k) with company match of up to 5%.
  • Education Support Program.
  • Stock options for regular employees working at least 20 hours per week.
  • Up to four weeks of paid time off per year based on weekly scheduled hours.
  • Up to 14 company-paid holidays.
  • Relocation provided.
  • Depending on role type and job level, employees may be eligible for benefits and bonuses based on individual contributions or company results; eligibility and amounts are not guaranteed.
