About The Position

PrimeFab is a leading manufacturer of prefabricated wood panels under our PrimePanel product line. We specialize in delivering high-quality, precision-engineered wall, floor, and roof panels for residential and commercial projects.Position Overview The PrimePanel Estimator plays a critical role in the pre-construction process by analyzing architectural drawings, performing accurate takeoffs, and preparing detailed project estimates. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. Our ideal candidate is someone who values teamwork, is eager to learn and grow, and demonstrates sound judgment in every decision.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in estimating within wood construction or prefabrication industries.
  • Strong understanding of structural/architectural drawings and building systems.
  • Solid knowledge of residential framing, material estimating, and construction practices.
  • Proficiency with take-off/estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with panelized construction.
  • Knowledge of engineered wood products (LSL, TJI, etc.).
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling)
  • Diploma, degree, or certification in Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Drafting, Estimating, or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret architectural and structural drawings for panelized construction.
  • Make informed panelization assumptions to complete accurate quantity takeoffs.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for panels, loose lumber and hardware.
  • Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for projects, including labor, materials, and logistics.
  • Identify design inconsistencies, missing information, or risks and issue RFIs as required.
  • Support engineered wood product specification (e.g., LSL, TJI) and verify load‑related design inputs.
  • Identify value engineering solutions and cost-saving alternatives to optimize project budgets.
  • Collaborate with designers, production and suppliers to ensure alignment on scope and pricing.
  • Maintain current knowledge of material pricing, industry trends, panelized construction methods, and engineered wood systems.
