About The Position

Ellsworth Adhesives specs in materials used in cell phones, spaceships, and electric vehicles. Ellsworth Corporation, a global, industry-leading distributor of specialty chemicals and equipment and adhesive manufacturer, has an opportunity for a Senior Technical Estimator. This role reports into Tape Case, LLC, an Ellsworth Corporation company located in Elk Grove Village, IL, and is an on-site position. The role involves using project management skills to oversee a sales opportunity from technical sales through the initial production process. TapeCase designs, converts, manufactures, and distributes highly engineered adhesive tape products, offering custom tape solutions through expansive converting services. The Senior Technical Estimator acts as the subject matter expert to analyze and manage project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service needs. They develop cost estimates for projects based on work scope, specifications, and contract proposals using applicable estimating methodologies and tools.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with flexible materials required.
  • 3+ years of experience in estimating or quoting in the converting industry required.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel formulas.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (English).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees of varying education levels across multiple divisions.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards and requirements.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints required.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision/guidance.
  • Ability to provide a high-level of customer service and serve in a customer-facing role.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • AutoCAD knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with customers and company resources to recommend machinery and tools to use to manufacture products.
  • Creates and documents procedures for quotes, BOM, and routing, and can train other team members.
  • Reads blueprints, understands the quality requirements and the feasibility of the project, and creates red-line drawings for any requested changes.
  • Uses benchmark data, trends, prior estimates, and historical pricing schedules to generate detailed cost estimates that consist of itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations.
  • Designs and purchases production tooling, creates BOM to dictate the raw material purchases, and creates routing to set up the production processes.
