About The Position

Mercy is seeking an experienced Primary Care Medical Assistant for a 40-hour per week position in West County, MO. This role involves preparing patients for their visits with providers by completing the Advanced Standard room process, which includes entering chief complaints, taking vital signs, reviewing patient history and allergies, and performing medication reconciliation. The Medical Assistant will also work the Encounter Guide to address care gaps such as fall risk, depression screening, breast cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, and diabetic eye exams. Responsibilities include rechecking elevated blood pressures and completing necessary documentation in Epic for yearly preventative visits. The role also involves assisting with in-office testing such as drawing blood, completing mental status exams, EKGs, walking oxygen studies, and point-of-care testing. Administering vaccines and other injections within the scope of practice, and scheduling follow-up appointments are also key duties. The Medical Assistant will collaborate with providers and the clinical care team to monitor and coordinate the delivery of the care plan.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Must have active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA).
Diploma in Practical Nursing (for LPN qualifications).
Active LPN licensure (for LPN qualifications).

Nice To Haves

6 months of clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care office.

Responsibilities

Prepares patient for visit with provider by completing Advanced Standard room process including: Entering the chief complaint, Taking patient vital signs; reviewing patient history and allergies, Completing a thorough medication reconciliation.
Working the Encounter Guide including helping to close any open care gaps such as fall risk, depression screening, breast cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, and diabetic eye exam.
Rechecking elevated blood pressures.
Completing needed documentation in Epic for yearly preventative visits as needed.
Assists with any needed in-office testing including, but not limited to, drawing blood, completing mental status exams, EKG’s, walking oxygen studies and point of care testing.
Administer vaccines and other injections within scope of practice.
Schedules follow up appointments when needed per office policy.
Collaborates with providers and clinical care team to monitor and coordinate delivery of the care plan.
