About The Position

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. Position is responsible for providing labor and material cost estimating support based on Requests for Proposals (RFP’s). Ensure that cost estimates are responsive while meeting overall corporate policies and objectives. Support cost estimating activities and cost and pricing reviews with management and customer representatives. Participate as a member of proposal teams on proposal planning, execution, and contract negotiations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three or more years experience in finance, accounting, or business administration in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • An understanding of cost estimating concepts and principles, FAR and related governmental rules and regulations, and experience demonstrating a broad application of those principles, concepts, and practices
  • Program Finance / Cost Analyst experience developing estimates and EAC’s
  • Proficiency in SAP ERP system
  • Microsoft Excel power user (Pivot tables, Vlookups, etc)
  • Microsoft Access experience is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to document, report, and present cost estimating findings
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as required
  • Must have the ability and willingness to immediately apply for a DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop estimates for engineering development, production, sustainment, and other various proposals
  • Research and analyze specifications and calculate production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data in support of proposal and contract activities
  • Coordinate the collection and accumulation of appropriate cost, contractual, schedule, and technical data for internal functions, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Establish estimating assumptions, rationale, basis of estimate (BOE), learning curve, and scrap, rework, and warranty factors for use in cost estimating assignments
  • Submit adequate and easily traceable proposal cost volumes
  • Maintain historical cost databases and cost estimating relationships
  • Respond to inquiries, identify issues, and promote the development of innovative solutions to moderately complex challenges on a variety of cost estimating topics
  • Document, validate, and present cost estimates to project management, customers, and auditors
  • Prepare estimate confidence curves for effective decision making and proposal shaping
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
  • Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
