About The Position

Venable is seeking a Pricing Analyst to support the firm’s strategic pricing initiatives through financial analysis, pricing administration, and alternative fee arrangement support that contributes to profitable growth and exceptional client service. The role involves supporting the annual client rate review process, developing pricing proposals, building and maintaining pricing models, assisting with alternative fee arrangements, producing reports on pricing and key performance metrics, collaborating with various internal teams, and creating presentations to communicate pricing insights.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three or more years of experience preparing financial, pricing, budgeting, or analytical reports.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling techniques.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions.
Ability to learn new applications quickly.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of firm financial matters.
Strong analytical and technical skills.
Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel skills (use of vertical and horizontal lookups, pivot tables and modeling) required.
Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
Requires ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Experience with legal, financial, reporting, or data visualization systems is a plus.
Familiarity with Aderant suite of products preferred.
Exposure to Iridium Pricing/Budgeting or Financial Dashboard products preferred.
Experience in using data visualization tools (i.e., Power BI) a plus.
Experience with Information Builders and SQL Server Reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

Supporting the annual client rate review process by preparing rate analyses, client summaries, and approval documentation.
Developing pricing proposals, rate cards, and fee arrangements for client pitches, RFPs, and matter opportunities.
Building and maintaining Excel-based pricing models to analyze blended rates, discounts, staffing scenarios, and pricing alternatives.
Assisting with the evaluation and implementation of alternative fee arrangements, including preparing financial models and supporting approval processes.
Producing recurring and ad hoc reports related to pricing, realization, effective rates, leverage, and other key performance metrics.
Collaborating with attorneys, Business Development, Finance, Billing, and Business Analytics teams to support pricing decisions and reporting needs.
Creating dashboards, presentations, and other materials that communicate pricing insights and recommendations across the firm.
