About The Position

WashU's Division of Student Success seeks a health education professional for the position of Prevention Specialist for the Relationship & Sexual Violence Prevention Center (RSVP). The Division of Student Success advances the educational mission of the university through resources and experiences outside the classroom that prepare our students for lifelong success. The Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention Specialist will play a key role in increasing and strengthening University-wide education and outreach to undergraduate students, with a primary focus on issues related to sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking and dating and domestic violence, and the multiple intersections of violence. This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of evidence based, audience specific educational programs, and for overseeing the directives of the Jeanne Cleary and Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) related to education. The role will commit to inclusive relationship and sexual violence reeducation and outreach, focusing on programming that promotes anti-racism and anti-oppression. The role will also advise graduate practicum students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.

  • Masters degree in psychology, social work, public health, women and gender studies or related field.
  • 3 or more years of violence prevention education experience.
  • Experience with adolescents or college aged students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement evidence based, audience specific educational programs that are inclusive and address intersections of violence; develop and manage a comprehensive program calendar, including orientation programs for graduate students.
  • Maintain evaluation and assessment of the impact of current programs and modify accordingly.
  • Play a lead role in researching the most efficacious or promising practices in prevention education.
  • Educate, advise, support and maintain peer education groups to include LIVE.
  • Create educational and promotional materials, including web resources.
  • Recruit, train and supervise at least 2-4 graduate practicum students.
  • Cultivate working relationships with campus partners offering co-programming at least once per year.
  • Develop and manage a budget for prevention efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
