About The Position

This position assists clients with the completion of Orders of Protection and provides transportation to victims needing legal and other supportive services. The role also supports the Violence Outreach Coordinator in raising community awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault, developing new partnerships, and creating outreach materials. Responsibilities include maintaining communication with the Circuit Clerk, planning awareness activities, facilitating education, and training staff and advocates. The position requires maintaining accurate records, making referrals, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience with MS Office is highly preferred.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) and writing on the web for different audiences.
  • Must have excellent writing and organizational skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an outgoing personality.
  • Ability to stay up to date with current news, trends, and studies.
  • Takes initiative and is open to continuous learning.
  • Ability to lift and carry under 45 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and operate motor equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists clients with completion of Orders of Protection.
  • Provides transportation to victims in need of legal and other supportive services.
  • Assists the Violence Outreach Coordinator in raising awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault in communities.
  • Assist in the development of new partnerships with community leaders, organizations, and faith-based institutions to increase their knowledge of domestic violence resources and how to appropriately refer survivors in their communities.
  • Assist with the development and distribution of outreach materials such as brochures about domestic violence, fact sheets, annual reports, videos, monthly newsletters, and bystander cards.
  • Assist in maintaining ongoing communication with the Circuit Clerk.
  • Assist in planning education and awareness activities for Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April), and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (May).
  • Assist in the facilitation of domestic violence and sexual assault education.
  • Assist in the training of staff, board members, and advocates on how to raise awareness about the prevalence of domestic violence in their communities.
  • Assist in the development of tailored presentations for specific target audiences, as needed.
  • Submit and maintain accurate records and a data-based reporting system in a timely manner.
  • Make referrals to other sources for information.
  • Other relevant duties, as assigned by the Executive Director or supervisor.
