About The Position

The Prevention Specialist supports gambling harm-prevention programming delivered through a variety of methods at The Gambling Clinic (TGC). TGC is the prevention and treatment-focused arm of the Tennessee Institute of Gambling Education and Research (TIGER), a grant-funded team located at the University of Memphis and East Tennessee State University, and a national leading research institute for the assessment and treatment of gambling disorders. The Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive program services and technical assistance in a specialized area (gambling-prevention focused programming). The role will also be responsible for supporting the evaluation of the effectiveness of all programs developed and implemented for public education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, psychology, education, community development or a relevant field, and two to four years of relevant experience OR A combination of education and work experience.
  • Knowledge of public health, prevention science, or behavioral health programming, particularly related to gambling harm or addiction prevention.
  • Understanding of program planning, implementation, and evaluation methods.
  • Knowledge of data collection tools, survey design, and basic data analysis techniques.
  • Skill in building and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders, community organizations, and internal teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reports, presentations, and outreach materials.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
