About The Position

The Prevention Educator delivers educational programming to youth and communities to promote the prevention and elimination of domestic violence. This role facilitates age-appropriate workshops, leads outreach and awareness campaigns, and supports initiatives such as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Prevention Educator creates safe, inclusive spaces for discussion, fosters social-emotional skill development, and maintains accurate program records. Working closely with culturally specific and underserved communities—including Spanish-speaking populations—the role applies survivor-centered strategies, provides training and outreach, and builds strong, collaborative community relationships.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth (Pre-K–12 preferred).
  • Experience in domestic violence prevention and/or youth development strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement educational or awareness programs.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit setting preferred.
  • Strong facilitation, public speaking, and group engagement skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse community partners.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and adaptability to new systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and cultural competence.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate workshops focused on domestic violence prevention and healthy relationships.
  • Plan, support, and participate in community outreach events, task forces, and public awareness initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of campaigns such as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of outreach activities and program data in organizational databases.
  • Present educational content to diverse audiences across schools, community organizations, and public forums.
  • Engage youth through interactive programming that builds awareness and prevention skills.
  • Create safe and supportive environments for participants to explore root causes of domestic violence and develop social-emotional competencies.
  • Develop and implement culturally responsive, survivor-centered outreach strategies.
  • Build and sustain relationships with community partners, including leaders in culturally specific communities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and represent the organization in meetings, committees, and community spaces.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to organizational goals and mission.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and best practices.
