About The Position

The Prestigious Awards and Scholar Development Advisor empowers high-achieving undergraduate students to pursue life-changing opportunities—such as nationally/internationally competitive scholarships, fellowships, internships, and graduate study. In this role, you’ll work closely with students to identify their goals, develop their strengths, and guide them through every stage of the application process—from early exploration to final submission. You’ll design and lead engaging workshops, support internal nomination processes, and build partnerships to expand access to these opportunities. This position is especially focused on increasing access for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. You’ll play a key role in helping talented students recognize their potential and successfully compete at the highest levels. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, History, Political Science, Communications, Education, International Studies, or related disciplines emphasizing writing, advising, or global engagement).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in academic advising, student success, writing support, global learning, or awards/fellowships advising.
  • Experience advising or mentoring students in one-on-one and group settings
  • Familiarity with the landscape of Prestigious Awards and current best practices in advising.
  • Familiarity with competitive scholarships, fellowships, or similar high-impact programs (or the ability to quickly learn)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across groups of people
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
  • Experience supporting students in developing written materials (e.g., essays, applications, personal statements)
  • Comfort using data to track engagement, assess outcomes, and inform improvements
  • Experience planning events, workshops, or outreach initiatives
  • Confidence in public speaking and presenting to a variety of audiences
  • Strong writing and editing skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in higher education, student affairs, international education, public service, or a related field.
  • Experience in academic advising, career planning, educational counseling, or related services in a higher education context.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and coaching skills, with experience facilitating workshops or trainings.
  • Demonstrated success supporting underrepresented, first-generation, and/or low-income students.
  • Experience advising students on prestigious fellowships or providing academic writing support.
  • Experience reviewing and providing feedback on application materials or scholarly writing.
  • Background in undergraduate research, academic enrichment, or experiential learning programs.
  • Experience developing or managing a peer advising or mentorship program related to fellowships or scholar development.
  • Familiarity with social media or communications tools is a plus
