Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state. Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Pressure Vessel Engineer. In this position, you will support the integrity, compliance, and lifecycle management of pressure vessels and related pressure equipment within the Facility Integrity Management Program (FIMP). This role is ideal for engineers with approximately 5–8 years of experience who are developing strong technical depth in pressure equipment engineering and who can independently support assessments, design reviews, and regulatory compliance activities while collaborating closely with Engineering and Operations teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • P. Eng designation with APEGA or EGBC preferred.
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in Pressure Vessel Integrity, Asset Integrity, facility design, project engineering, or operations engineering.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, API 579, API 510, CSA B51, and applicable regulatory requirements including ABSA and TSBC.
  • Experience working within facility integrity or asset integrity programs.
  • Familiarity with RBI methodologies and inspection planning is an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical workstreams and interface effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, documentation and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment in time-constrained, execution-driven environments.
  • A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage pressure vessel third party inspections.
  • Evaluate inspection results, corrosion mechanisms, damage modes, and remaining life calculations.
  • Recommend repair, alteration, or replacement strategies based on risk and technical evaluations.
  • Review and verify pressure vessel designs, drawings, and specifications in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Support internal engineering reviews for new installations, modifications, and repairs.
  • Assist with resolving design non-conformances and code compliance gaps.
  • Support and maintain Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) analyses and inspection strategies for pressure equipment.
  • Incorporate inspection data into integrity assessments and inspection interval recommendations.
  • Ensure pressure vessel engineering activities meet ABSA, TSBC, and other applicable jurisdictional regulatory requirements.
  • Support preparation and review of regulatory submissions, technical justifications, and responses to regulator inquiries.
  • Assist with audits and regulatory inspections related to pressure equipment integrity.
  • Provide engineering support for pressure equipment incidents, near misses, and abnormal operating events.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and develop engineering-based corrective actions.
  • Contribute to development, maintenance, and improvement of pressure vessel engineering standards, procedures, and guidelines within FIMP.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, inspection, projects, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
  • Support oversight of third-party engineering consultants performing pressure vessel design, FFS, or engineering assessments.
  • Review consultant deliverables for technical quality and compliance with codes and internal standards.
