Press Room Fabricator - Laser Cutting/Press Brake/Welding

Harvey Vogel ManufacturingLondonderry, NH
$20 - $30Onsite

About The Position

Workplace Modular Systems (WMS) is seeking an experienced Press Room Fabricator to join their Fabrication department. This is a hands-on role responsible for operating Trumpf fiber laser, setting up and running Trumpf press brakes, and performing TIG and resistance/spot welding to meet drawing specifications. The fabricator will work from blueprints, weld symbols, and eDrawings-based work instructions to produce precision sheet metal components and welded assemblies. The ideal candidate is cross-trained in laser, press brake, and welding, or has deep experience in two areas and is eager to learn the third. A strong emphasis is placed on self-inspection and maintaining quality throughout the production process. WMS has been engineering and manufacturing industrial workspace solutions in Londonderry, New Hampshire since 1950, using domestically sourced steel and maintaining a collaborative environment where every team member contributes to the final product.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a sheet metal fabrication / press room environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency across multiple core processes (laser, press brake, and welding).
  • Experience operating CNC fiber lasers (Trumpf preferred), including program loading, material setup, cut quality monitoring, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of bend allowances, tooling selection, and forming sequences.
  • Hands-on experience with TIG welding on steel and with spot (resistance) welding.
  • Ability to read and work from part drawings, weld symbols, and CAD-based work instructions.
  • Strong quality consciousness and self-inspection habits.
  • Strong attendance, punctuality, and follow-through.
  • Able to work independently and keep pace with production goals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Trumpf press brake experience strongly preferred.
  • eDrawings experience a plus.
  • Vocational or technical training in welding, machining, or metal fabrication preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Trumpf fiber laser to cut sheet metal parts to program specifications, including loading/unloading material, monitoring cut quality, and performing basic machine setup.
  • Set up and operate Trumpf press brakes to form sheet metal parts according to prints, which involves selecting and installing tooling, programming bend sequences, calculating bend allowances, and verifying first-article dimensions.
  • Perform TIG welding on steel components and assemblies per drawing specifications, including setting up, fitting, tacking parts, monitoring for warping, and self-inspecting welds.
  • Operate resistance/spot welding equipment to join steel components and assemblies, including setting up parts with jigs and fixtures, maintaining weld quality, and inspecting fusion results.
  • Cut and process steel tubing to length and specification using a CNC cold saw, ensuring accurate setup and clean cuts.
  • Prepare and assemble parts prior to welding using hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures, and perform grinding, cutting, and cleaning operations.
  • Read and interpret part drawings, work orders, weld symbols, and eDrawings-based work instructions to produce parts that conform to engineering specifications.
  • Inspect parts and assemblies at each process stage for dimensional accuracy, weld quality, and conformance to specifications, identifying and escalating non-conformances.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in proper working order and keep work areas clean, organized, and 5S-compliant.
  • Notify supervision of any tooling wear, machine faults, or material issues.
