About The Position

The Press Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining press equipment. The role includes preparing presses for production, making color and press adjustments to meet quality specifications, and performing cleaning, lubrication, routine maintenance, and minor repairs. This is a third-shift position scheduled Sunday through Friday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Occasional overtime, including weekends, may be required. The starting minimum rate is $27 per hour, including a $3-per-hour shift premium. The stated pay range for the role is $24.00 to $34.32 per hour; actual pay may vary based on factors including education, skills, experience, performance, shift, and location.

Requirements

Ability to be trained in offset printing procedures, materials and specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
Ability to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine appropriate press usage, settings, and materials.
Skill in making precise control settings and adjustments and performing routine operational equipment maintenance.
Skill in routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.

Responsibilities

Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain press equipment.
Perform make-ready tasks for the press being operated, such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates or cylinders for imperfections and image positioning, preparing blankets, and adjusting tension and register.
Make color corrections and press adjustments before and during production runs to meet and maintain quality specifications.
Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press.
Make minor repairs and replace worn or broken parts as needed.
Perform periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.
