About The Position

As a Pressroom Operator, you’ll be part of our Pressroom team located in Willard, Ohio. You’ll get to complete production activities in the Press Room, including operation of automatic presses, cranes, lift trucks, and any other auxiliary equipment. You will also be responsible for the operation and adjustment of feeding and handling equipment (e.g. coil cradle, coil leveling). This role involves completing changeover jobs, which includes the setup of blanking dies, progressive dies, and transfer dies in a press. You will perform visual inspection of both in-process and finished parts, and use appropriate tools and fixtures to check parts. Additionally, you will operate other production equipment, such as manual presses, based on the needs of the department, and stack parts as needed. A key part of this role is to understand and ensure the safe operation of the presses, lift trucks, and other similar equipment, and to abide by all SBD Willard safety policies. You will also conduct material handling tasks as needed and follow all applicable ISO standards & procedures to ensure quality standards are met. Recognizing concerns and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, as well as maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment are also expected. You will perform departmental tasks assigned by the Stamping Supervisor or Group Leader.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass all certifications required for the position
  • Must have a valid lift truck operators license or successfully complete lift truck training
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Willing to work independently or with a group
  • Ability to learn to operate an automatic press, set up dies, and changeover jobs
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able read and comprehend instructions
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to work overtime as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with die setting is preferred
