About The Position

RRD is hiring a Press Operator to set up, adjust, operate, and maintain single- or multi-color offset presses. The role performs press make-ready, including hanging plates or installing cylinders, checking them for imperfections and correct image positioning, preparing blankets, and adjusting tension and register. The operator makes color corrections and press adjustments to meet and maintain job quality specifications, cleans and lubricates the press, performs routine and manufacturer-recommended maintenance, and makes minor repairs or replaces worn or broken parts as needed.

Requirements

Knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, equipment, and safety requirements sufficient to perform assigned work.
Ability to read and understand job specifications to determine press setup materials needed to run a job successfully.
Knowledge of press capabilities to select appropriate press use and determine corrective adjustments needed for efficient operation.
Knowledge of the packing pressure needed to achieve proper printing pressure for the job.
Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.
Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
Ability to make adjustments to the feeder and feed board, including suctions and blast, front and side guides, and head-stop timing.

Responsibilities

Perform make-ready tasks, including hanging plates or installing cylinders, inspecting them for imperfections and correct image positioning, preparing blankets, and adjusting tension and register.
Make color corrections and press adjustments before and during production to meet and maintain quality specifications.
Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press; make minor repairs and replace worn or broken parts as required.
Perform periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.
Adjust the feeder and feed board, including suctions and blast, front and side guides, and head-stop timing.
