About The Position

RRD is hiring a Press Operator to set up, adjust, operate, and maintain single- or multi-color offset presses. The role includes completing press make-ready tasks, making color and press adjustments to meet job quality specifications, and carrying out routine cleaning, lubrication, maintenance, and minor repairs. The position is identified as second shift.

Requirements

• Knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, equipment, and safety requirements.
• Ability to read and understand job specifications to identify the press setup and materials needed to run a job successfully.
• Knowledge of press capabilities to determine appropriate press use and corrective adjustments for efficient operation.
• Knowledge of the packing pressure needed to obtain proper printing pressure for the job.
• Ability to use a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.
• Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
• Ability to adjust the feeder and feed board, including suctions and blast, front and side guides, and head-stop timing.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain single- or multi-color offset presses.
• Complete make-ready tasks for the press, including hanging plates or installing cylinders, checking plates or cylinders for imperfections and image positioning, preparing blankets, and adjusting tension and register.
• Make color corrections and press adjustments before and during production to meet and maintain work quality specifications.
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press; make minor repairs and replace worn or broken parts as required.
• Perform periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.
• Adjust the feeder and feed board, including suctions and blast, front and side guides, and head-stop timing.
