About The Position

Amsted Automotive Powder Metal in Geneva, Illinois, is seeking a Press Operator to operate presses up to 200 tons on single-level parts during the second shift. The role involves producing quality powder-metal parts, adjusting and operating presses, inspecting and measuring production, maintaining equipment and records, supporting coworkers, and following quality and safety procedures.

Requirements

Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability.
Excellent manual dexterity.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently.
Follow safety rules and wear personal protective equipment as required.
Use testing devices, chemicals, and material-moving equipment according to applicable guidelines and procedures.

Responsibilities

Process quality parts on powder-metal presses and related equipment.
Adjust machines as required to assure part quality.
Operate all types of compacting or restrike presses.
Use calibrated gauges to check and record production to specified tolerances.
Use SPC charts and support equipment to maintain quality.
Load and unload parts and visually inspect them for defects.
Check and weigh parts according to the schedule and job specifications.
Perform preventative maintenance on machines as required.
Complete necessary recordkeeping and paperwork, including material certification records.
Help train and assist operators as required.
Seek help when problems arise and ask questions when instructions are unclear.
Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
Use testing devices, chemicals, and material-moving equipment according to applicable guidelines and procedures.
Follow safety rules and keep the work area clean and orderly.
Wear required personal protective equipment.
Use assigned work periods, machinery, equipment, and tools professionally and responsibly.
Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy, taking pride in the products produced.
