About The Position

The Press Operator 1 plays a crucial role in maintaining and operating paper converting machines to ensure the high-quality production of various documents. This role involves setting up and operating stock paper converting machines, performing machine maintenance, and conducting quality checks to meet client specifications. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring precision and attention to detail, especially in the sheeting process, to ensure that rolls of paper are cut to the correct dimensions.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Lifting requirement of 50 pounds
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Team player, with a self-motivated, flexible, hands-on approach
Prompt, reliable, and able to adapt to changing tasks

Nice To Haves

2-3 years’ experience in a fast-paced, light industrial environment is preferred
Experience with offset printing is a plus

Responsibilities

Set up and operate stock paper converting machines to produce a range of forms and cut sheets.
Operate web-fed machines as required.
Set vertical and horizontal perforations.
Make precise adjustments to the converting machines and paper to achieve high-quality outputs.
Monitor equipment and job runs during production to ensure quality and consistency of finished products.
Clean, oil, adjust, repair, and service equipment as needed to maintain optimal performance.
Ensure that rolls of paper are sheeted to the correct dimensions (e.g., 8.5x11) by measuring parent rolls and making necessary adjustments during the sheeting process.
Perform a variety of tasks requiring a thorough knowledge of converting techniques, materials, and equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions or irregularities promptly to minimize downtime.
