About The Position

Knape & Vogt is looking for a Press Operator to join their industry leading team in Grand Rapids. This role involves operating precision slide/multi-slide or four-slide presses safely and consistently, including starting, stopping, feeding material, and monitoring production. The position also includes assisting with tooling changes, material changes, adjustments, and machine setups. The operator will be responsible for recognizing defects and monitoring cycle performance, scrap, production quantities, downtime, and quality throughout the run. Requirements

Previous press operator experience
Mechanical Aptitude
Ability to print and read blueprints
Previous experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, comparators, and other inspection equipment to verify parts meet specifications
Basic reading, writing, computer and math skills
Ability to speak, read, write, and understand basic English
Ability to efficiently work in a high fast paced environment
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. while standing for long periods of time

Responsibilities

Operate precision slide/multi-slide or four-slide presses safely and consistently, including starting, stopping, feeding material, and monitoring production
Assist with performing tooling changes, material changes, adjustments, and machine setups
Recognize defects such as incorrect bends, dimensional variation, burrs, cracks, scratches, deformation, or other nonconforming conditions
Monitor the cycle performance, scrap, production quantities, downtime, and quality throughout the run
