About The Position

The Press Operator is a numbering position operating GTO, DCOP, and Ricoh presses. The role involves operating and manually setting up and changing over multi-color sheet-fed or high-speed continuous/web presses. The operator sets up the press, runs jobs to customer requirements and quality standards, performs preventative maintenance, uses press controls, and troubleshoots mechanical issues.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
At least 2 years of manufacturing or printing experience.
Basic math, reading, and computer skills.
Strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
2 years of printing press experience.
Familiarity with Lean principles.
Knowledge of the printing process and its usage.

Responsibilities

Operate GTO, DCOP, and Ricoh presses.
Perform manual setup and changeovers for multi-color sheet-fed or high-speed continuous/web presses.
Set up presses by identifying and loading the correct stock, setting the paper path and stretch, bending and mounting plates, mixing PMS ink, registering dies, adjusting ink and water balance, ensuring accurate multi-color register, and setting up attributes such as perforations, numbering, and file holes.
Understand order instructions and run presses to meet requirements for ink density, ink and water balance, color matching, size, construction, and specified attributes while meeting or exceeding customer quality expectations.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance to ensure product quality.
Understand and demonstrate the use of press controls.
Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns and adjust equipment, including changing blankets, washing up units, cleaning the water system, and adjusting roller settings.
