About The Position

This position is responsible for learning and performing all aspects of operating a press, including safety features, setup, operation, and post-production tasks. The Press Operator C will work closely with the Press Helper and follow quality management system procedures to ensure customer specifications are met.

  • Ability to learn all safety features on the press.
  • Ability to read and understand job tickets and customer specifications.
  • Willingness to learn press setup procedures.
  • Ability to operate a computerized press console.
  • Understanding of quality management systems.
  • Ability to identify product types.
  • Ability to perform wash-up and cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to remove and store components.
  • Ability to store and file records.
  • Ability to match plate files with products.

Responsibilities

  • Learn all safety features (nip points etc.) on the press as well as electrical and press components.
  • Read, examine and understand various sections of the job ticket detailing the customer specifications to confirm components needed to set up the job.
  • Learn how to set up the press by installing stock; die; mounting and setting printing plates on cylinders and anilox safely; install and remove doctor blades safely.
  • Learn how to key in codes etc. on the console keyboard/touchscreen of a computerized press.
  • Read operating procedures to ensure job duties and processes follow the quality management system and operate the press accordingly.
  • Verify the final proof approved by the customer.
  • Identify product on the ticket (regular or pharmaceutical).
  • Verify the related die on the ticket and proceed to die transfer to the appropriate press – removal of yellow circle on the board.
  • Perform wash-up as necessary and clean the press and remove accessories with the assistance of the Press Helper.
  • Learn how to remove components after press run.
  • Store and file plate records.
  • Verify plate condition and proceed to storage.
  • Perform wash-up and clean the press and components.
  • Match plate file with the related semi-finished product.
  • Perform any other production-related work assignment as requested by the Lead Hand or production management.
