About The Position

This position works independently or as part of a team to assemble and fabricate metal components for furniture according to work-order specifications in an incentive-based manufacturing environment. The Press Operator Apprentice fabricates metal materials to La-Z-Boy quality requirements, operates and maintains press equipment, and supports production quality, safety, and efficiency. The position is listed for the PM shift and has a base rate of $20.92–$27.89 per hour. The role is 40 hours per week.

Requirements

Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the job duties.
Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
Ability to read complex print specifications.
Ability to use and understand measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to obtain a PIV license.
Ability to achieve performance standards.
Excellent attendance; three points or less.
No written safety warnings.

Responsibilities

Fabricate metal material according to La-Z-Boy quality requirements.
Operate the press and perform machine maintenance to maximize program yields.
Load dies and set up and adjust the machine for each job.
Lubricate moving parts of the machine.
Operate a forklift or pallet jack to relocate materials, supplies, and parts as needed.
Visually inspect work for defects according to quality standards.
Clean and maintain equipment.
Operate equipment safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Rework non-conforming parts as necessary.
Control quality and waste.
Demonstrate teamwork and motivation for job requirements.
Follow health and safety standards.
Maintain a clean work area.
