About The Position

This position works independently or as part of a team to assemble and fabricate metal components for furniture according to work-order specifications in an incentive-based manufacturing environment. The employee fabricates metal materials to La-Z-Boy quality requirements and operates and maintains press equipment to maximize production yields. The role includes setting up machines and dies, inspecting and reworking parts, handling materials, and maintaining a safe and clean work area. The position is listed for the PM shift and has 40 weekly hours.

Requirements

Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the duties.
Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
Ability to read complex print specifications.
Ability to use and understand measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Basic computer skills.
Obtain a PIV license.
Achieve performance standards.
Excellent attendance, with 3 points or less.
No safety written warnings.

Responsibilities

Fabricate metal materials according to La-Z-Boy quality requirements.
Operate the press and perform machine maintenance to maximize program yields.
Load dies and set up and adjust the machine for each job.
Keep moving parts of the machine lubricated.
Operate a forklift or pallet jack to relocate materials, supplies, and parts as needed.
Visually inspect work for defects according to quality standards.
Clean and maintain equipment.
Operate equipment safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Rework non-conforming parts as necessary.
Control quality and waste.
Demonstrate teamwork and motivation for job requirements.
Follow health and safety standards.
Maintain a clean work area.
